BROW LIFT

Eyebrow Lift Surgery: What You Need to Know

What is an Eyebrow Lift?

An eyebrow lift, also known as a brow lift or forehead lift, is a surgical procedure designed to raise sagging eyebrows, smooth forehead wrinkles, and rejuvenate the upper part of your face. It can help reduce a tired or angry appearance caused by drooping brows, creating a more youthful and refreshed look.

Who is a Good Candidate for an Eyebrow Lift?

You may be a good candidate for an eyebrow lift if:

  • You want to achieve a more open, youthful appearance around your eyes and upper face.
  • You have sagging or low eyebrows that make you look tired, sad, or angry.
  • You are in overall good health and have realistic expectations about the results of the surgery.

How is the Surgery Done?

An eyebrow lift can be done using a few different techniques, depending on your needs:

  1. Endoscopic Brow Lift: This is the least invasive technique. Small incisions are made behind your hairline, and a tiny camera (endoscope) is used to lift and reposition the eyebrow muscles and tissue with dissolvable stitches with dissolvable implants underneath the skin. Skin is not removed in this procedure
  2. Direct Brow or Midforehead Brow Lift: This method involves placing an incision right above the eye brow hairs or in a deep forehead wrinkle. The eyebrow is lifted and sutured in place and excess skin is removed.
  3. Pretrichial (hairline) Brow Lift: This method involves a larger incision along the hairline where excess skin is removed, and the forehead is lifted to smooth out deep wrinkles and raise the brows.
  4. Temporal Brow Lift: This method focuses on lifting the outer portion of the eyebrows to create a more natural, refreshed appearance. Incision is placed in the hair line, and the outer eyebrow is lifted with dissolvable stitches underneath the skin.

The surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, so you will be asleep or relaxed during the procedure. The surgery usually takes between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the technique used. Your surgeon will determine the best technique to light the brows according to your goals and anatomy..

What to Expect After Surgery (Healing & Recovery)

Healing Time: Recovery from an eyebrow lift typically takes about 1 to 2 weeks. You may experience some swelling, bruising, or tightness around your forehead and eyes.

Expectations:

Swelling and bruising are common right after the procedure and will start to improve within a few days.

Most of the swelling will go down within the first 2 weeks, but you may still have minor swelling for several weeks.

You may also experience some discomfort or tightness around the forehead and brow area, but this can be managed with pain medication.

Your surgeon may provide you with specific instructions on how to care for your incisions and when to resume normal activities.

Pain Management: Discomfort is generally mild after an eyebrow lift and can be managed with prescribed medications or over-the-counter pain relievers.

What to Avoid:

Avoid strenuous activities or heavy exercise for about 3 to 4 weeks after the surgery.

Avoid rubbing or touching your forehead and eyes during the healing process.

Don’t expose your forehead to direct sunlight or use harsh skincare products until your incisions have healed properly.

What Results Can You Expect?

Once the swelling and bruising have subsided, you should notice a lifted, more youthful appearance around your eyes and forehead. Your brows will appear more rested and elevated. The results of an eyebrow lift are long-lasting, but the natural aging process will continue, so you may eventually notice some changes over time.

Common Questions:

  • Will I have visible scars? Incisions are usually placed in discreet locations, either along the hairline or behind the hairline, so scars are typically not noticeable. In some cases, small scars may be hidden in the natural folds of the forehead.
  • How long do the results last? The effects of an eyebrow lift can last for many years, although the natural aging process will continue. The results typically last anywhere from 5 to 10 years, depending on your skin and aging.
  • Is the surgery safe? Yes, eyebrow lift surgery is generally safe when performed by a skilled and experienced surgeon. As with any surgery, there are risks, but complications are rare.
  • Can I return to work right after surgery? Most patients can return to work in about 1 to 2 weeks, once the bruising and swelling have started to improve. You may need to take a little longer if your work requires strenuous physical activity.
